The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme offers a credit-linked capital subsidy of 35% on eligible project cost, capped at ₹10 lakh per unit for individual micro-enterprises. The subsidy is disbursed after the bank sanctions and disburses the loan — it is not an upfront grant, so you still need a project report, a bank willing to lend, and a District Resource Person or State Nodal Agency to process the file.
Machinery purchase for packing (and processing) equipment typically qualifies as project cost, but the invoice must match the DPR (Detailed Project Report) you submitted. If you later change the machine model, capacity, or supplier without updating the DPR, banks and nodal agencies commonly flag it during verification and delay or reject the subsidy claim.
Documents that come up repeatedly in PMFME files: udyam registration, FSSAI license or application, a bank account in the firm's name, a project report with machinery quotations, and proof of the unit's physical location (rent agreement or ownership proof). Missing or mismatched GST details between the applicant and the invoicing seller is one of the more common avoidable rejection reasons.
Another frequent rejection reason is buying machinery before the loan is sanctioned and expecting retroactive subsidy — most implementing agencies require the purchase and disbursement sequence to follow the sanctioned DPR timeline. Talk to your bank's PMFME nodal officer before placing a machine order, not after.
